Directions for use:

  • Fill the tray with 2.5cm. Water. The pellets will absorb all moisture and will expand to their full height of about 7-8 centimeters. This can take the pellets from 30 to 60 minutes to fully absorb the water, and in drier conditions they may require more water to fully hydrate. If there is excess water in the pan, pour it before planting the seeds.
  • After the hydration, the pellets perform the function of a pot full of earth. The seeds are sown at the correct depth at the top of the pellets, usually with two seeds planted in each pellet in case one of the seeds fails to germinate. Afterwards, coating the pellets with a layer of nylon retains moisture during germination, so the pellets do not require additional watering until the seeds germinate. Once seedlings are shown, nylon is removed and plants only require basic care to continue to grow well.
  •  The peat mixture in the pellets keeps moisture well, but the plants should be watered when the pellet surface starts to dry. You use 2.5cm. Water in the pan which will allow the pellets to absorb the amount of moisture they need. Once the pellet surface becomes damp, the remaining water is poured out of the pan.

Jiffy pellets contain fertilizer to feed the seedlings until transplanting, so there is no need for additional fertilizer addition.
